Merry Christmas!

It’s Christmas Time again! Let’s see what 2005 was like for the House family!

Grace has been paci free since January 8th. That was a major feat. The dentist said in front of her that she needed to get rid of it. She wasn't attached to it until he said that! Sheesh. She also became officially potty-trained in August.

Vince and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. We went to a camper show in Indy, but didn't spend the night anywhere this year.

The biggest thing that happened with us this year was William having his tonsils and adnoid taken out in February. He has slept SO MUCH better since then! It took a few weeks for his sleep to line out, but it did. God is most certainly good though! Within 4 hours of his surgery, he was eating a Happy Meal at the McDonald's at Riley Hospital. The nurses were amazed. :-) We left the hospital around 10 the following morning. They kept him overnight because of his asthma. While we were walking William around (because he was bored), we ran into my cousin, Gale. His daughter with cystic fibrosis was in the hospital as well.

We bought the kids new beds with our tax check. We got Grace a daybed and William a loft bed. His loft bed has a computer desk that sits underneath it. Grace's bed is really pretty. We also bought a new camcorder. It is nice. I really like it. I can connect it to my laptop and burn what I taped to DVD. Way cool.

In April, I got bitten by the scrapbooking bug. Oh my goodness do I love this! I thought I wasn't 'crafty' enough to do it, but as I got started...I figured out that I've been scrapbooking for years...only online! I have a bunch of cool tools now and have 2 scrapbooks going (with 2 more needing to be started).

Grace turned 3 this past May. William turned 6 in July.

We went on many camping trips this year. In April, we went to McCormick's Creek. Over Memorial Day Weekend, we went to Lieber State Park with friends from our church. It was rainy, but we had a great time. William learned to ride his bike without training wheels! End of June/beginning of July, we stayed at West Boggs. I learned how to put the awning up by myself. That was fun. Not! We had a bad thunderstorm blow through. We stayed really far from our house in August...we stayed at Shakamak State Park. It's a whopping 3 miles from our house. :) Over Labor Day Weekend, we stayed at Fowler Park with friends of ours. We had a blast. And our last camping trip of the year was at Lieber State Park in October.

In June, we traded our 2002 Ford F150 in on a 2005 Chevy 2500 HD 4x4 with a Duramax Deisel. We needed something that would pull our camper cross country. We want to take my mom & Jerry to Mount Rushmore, South Dakota in June/July of 2006... IF we have the money saved up that is. I sure hope we do. I think it would be a blast. If we don't, we will plan to go in 2007.

In July, Grace gave everyone at my church a scare. While they were downstairs in the Children's Movie...Grace decided to put a popcorn hull up her nose! After trying with no success to get it out, one of the adults came and got me. I grabbed a kleenex and told Grace she had 2 choices. 1. Blow her nose and make the popcorn hull come out (they had already tried this). or 2. Go to the hospital. She opted for choice #1 and the hull was out on the first blow. She hasn't tried that one again! lol!

Grace started Preschool at Busy Blocks in August. William started Kindergarten at Shakamak 2 days later. Both of them love school. Grace now recognizes her name, some letters and some numbers. She recognizes a lot of colors and shapes. William reads like crazy. He is reading a first grade reader right now. He brought it home last night (December 12). He really soaks reading up. We are really proud of him. William prefers to be driven to school, but most days he rides the bus. Last month (November) he decided that he wanted to start eating breakfast at school. That has been going well except for a couple of days. One morning, he didn't eat breakfast at daycare and then forgot to go eat breakfast at school. I bet he ate like a horse when he got to daycare! The other time, he said he couldn't get what they were having open. It was some sort of pocket thing and I bet he thought he had to open the pocket. He didn't remember what he did with it, but said he didn't eat it.

William had a asthma check up in September. He is doing well. Even with a nasty cold, he aced the breathing function test they gave him.

We had a couple of sad moments in our year. Vince's uncle was killed. He was hit head on coming home from work. He was less than 5 miles from his house. And in October, Vince's mom's mom passed away.

I've been volunteering in William's kindergarten class and I'm a member of the PTO. William really likes me helping in his class. His friend really seem to as well. On my birthday (the 17th), Grace & I chaparoned the field trip to Sturgeon's Barn in Riley, IN. I attended the Halloween Party for the kindergarteners as well. They had a blast and I left with some good ideas for the Christmas party that I'm organizing for them that will be taking place on December 20th. We had parent/teacher conferences on October 19th. Mrs. Boyd spoke well of William and that he was able to do things that they will not be teaching until the last grading period of the year. I think I said earlier that he is now reading a first grade reader. He is a whiz at computer games. Some of them have some pretty tough logic and he's been able to figure them out on his own. My sister got him an Adventures in Odessy game. It's a Christian game, but goodness the last stage of the game is HARD! I don't think he's mastered that level of it yet. I can't do that level of it! It requires more physics than my brain can handle...

The last thing worth noting didn't actually happen to us, but our family is now larger because of the news. Vince's brother and his wife had twins in November. They had a boy and a girl.
