September 2 - 5, 2004

What an AWESOME weekend!

Vince & Vic left before 8am to take our campers up to Fowler. I went to town to get a perm. Friday afternoon (after getting back from my perm),I started realizing everything that I had forgotten so I started packing that up to put in the truck. We finally left around 3 or 3:30 to head to the camper.

The kids had an absolute BLAST this weekend. Friday, William felt like the big man on campus because Jacob (who is around 13) played with him. They played with trucks for quite a while. Grace was satisfied playing with her dollhouse.

I have to laugh. We had received an AWESOME screened in 'porch' thingy (obviously I can't remember the actual name of it...I've called it a tent all weekend). Anyway, due to seeing how difficult it was to put up the one our friends had last year, we had not used this yet. Well, I mentioned that we had it to our friends and we decided to put it up. Vince and I were just floored. We had it put up in probably 10 minutes. And WOW was it nice! We fit both picnic tables in there! So that is where Grace played with her dollhouse and where we ate all weekend long. It was AWESOME!

Friday night, Carla's mom & dad came up. They actually brought Jacob up from a cross country or golf practice. They stayed and ate with us. We were sitting out in the screen tent and heard this noise...they were fogging for bugs! William almost immediately started coughing. I had to take him in and give him a breathing treatment....it was time for one anyway.

I have to laugh at William. I gave the kids a bath and put Grace to bed. She wanted to watch Barney. William wanted to be outside with us. Anyway back to the bath. Oh My WORD! I don't think I have ever seem my 2 kids so dirty in their lives! The water was the color of coffee with creamer in it! I could not see William's feet by the time I was done. I laughed so hard.

William insisted on coming outside with everyone else after his bath. He has this lawn chair that is more like a lounge chair. Well, he curled up on that thing and fell fast asleep! I couldn't believe it! Vince had to carry him in the camper. He wound up falling out of bed that night around 12:30 too. He was just worn out! Grace was too. They rode bikes, played at the playground, played in the dirt & with their toys. Shew!

We stayed out in the 'screen tent' until almost midnight playing eucher. That was fun. Carla & I euchered the guys with the 10 of clubs to win the last game we played. Don't even bother asking them...they will deny it.

Saturday, the kids slept in. They didn't get up until 9 - 9:30! That's late for them. I fixed chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast...realized I had left the butter at home. Then it was a full day of playing. William's asthma has been acting up so we brought the machine with us. I gave him about 3 treatments everyday. I noticed when he was around the campfire, it acted up more. A very smart lady (and veteran mom of an asthma kid) had told me that campfires are bad for kids with asthma...

Graham & Marcy came up for dinner. We had deer round steaks, hamburgers, hotdogs, baked potatoes, cole slaw, cottage cheese...man did we have a spread! And of course we roasted marshmallows every night! Can't go camping without making s'mores!!

William & Grace were almost as dirty Saturday night was they were Friday night...not quite, but almost. After I got them bathed, we went for a walk. I put the front wheel on the bike trailer and used it as a stroller. For a little while longer, both kids can fit in there. After we got back, I tucked the kids in bed and went to bed myself. Vince stayed up with our friends. I was just tooooo pooped.

Sunday: The kids were up around 7:45. My alarm was set for 8am anyway because we were going to go to Farmersburg to church and I needed a shower. I warmed up some leftover pancakes for William and Grace had a poptart. After I got back from my shower, Carla sent over left over gravy. Vince had already eaten left over deer steak so I put it in the fridge for Monday. Carla rode with us to church.

Afterward, we came back and fixed a light lunch and she put chili together for dinner. I'll tell you we had some good eatin' this weekend!

Vic & Carla taught us how to play Pepper. It's like eucher only you do some betting on the # of tricks you think you & your partner will take. It was a BLAST! You only play to 52 and we wound up having to finish the game on Monday. lol! We also learned how to play Rook. Carla & I took on the 2 Jake's. I think the boys won.

Early Monday morning, the 2 Jake's played Candyland with William & Grace. I have a couple of blackmail pictures of them! lol! I'll tell you what...those 2 boys really impressed me with how they let William tag along. They are a great couple of kids.

After lunch on Monday, we started packing up. After our campers were hooked up, I took a couple of group photos for my scrapbook.

I can't even tell you how many times that I said what a great weekend it was!

I sure feel like I left something out, but I have no idea what...
