Fowler Park, Terre Haute, Indiana

September 4 - 6, 2004

After our 'trial run' at camping, we went out and bought ourselves a travel trailer! We brought it home on the 3rd and pulled it up to Fowler Park on the 4th. Can't go our first weekend with the camper and not go camping!

We camped with our friends this weekend as well. Randy, Deb and their kids weren't able to make it this time though. William was pretty bummed... He really looks up to Tyler (their 13 yo) and loves to 'hang out' with him. When we went to West Boggs....if William wasn't in the camper, he was with Tyler.

I met Vince on my drive home from work. He was taking the camper up to Fowler. So I turned around and followed him up. We got it set up (with Vic and Carla's help) and headed home to get the kids and things that we didn't have in the camper yet. We didn't get back up there until after 10pm. So we talked for a little while and headed to bed.

Saturday...I stretched myself way to far this weekend. I had to be back at my mom's by 8am for a yard sale that I decided I need to have. Ugh. I got sunburned and it was barely worth all the effort I put into it. William called me on my cell phone to tell me that he had a loose tooth...his first. At 3pm, I picked up the pastor's youngest from a birthday party and headed back to the campsite. As we were fixing dinner, William & I were coming in the camper, when I heard, LOOK MOM! I lost my tooth! Wow! My baby boy lost his first tooth. I don't remember which came first....him losing his tooth or him falling in the lake. Either way...here are a couple of pictures of him & one of Grace.

The rest of the night was spent, eating, relaxing and watching the kids play. I think this was the night that William & Ary were playing hide & seek and William stood up under the slide out on the pastor's camper. Wow you should have seen the mark that left! And this was the night that Grace started her ritual of falling out of the bunk bed... She has done that at least 1 night of each trip we've made since we bought our camper.

Sunday, we got up and I think we went to church...I can't remember now. It seems like we did. Then we came back to the campsite, ate and the kids played.

I just remembered what happened this weekend...can't remember which day. We got the scare of a life time... william wanted to ride his bike up to the bathhouse with me. A few campsites from our camper, he decides he doesn't want to ride his bike. So I told him to take it back to the camper and go sit with Carla. I went on to the bathhouse. I come back from the bathhouse...no William. Everyone thought he was with me. So Carrie starts driving around the site in her car and Jacob takes off on his bike, Carla and I take off on foot. Carla (what a good eye she has) spotted him. He was at the OTHER bathouse. She yelled his name and boy was he glad to hear her voice! He seen Jacob about that time to and just started crying. He had gotten turned around and went to the bathhouse the farthest from our campsite instead of the one I went to...LESSON LEARNED: Walk the children back to the campsite and let another adult know that you need them to keep an eye on them!!! He and I both learned a lesson that day. He now knows why he needs to do as he is told, not as he wants!

Monday was a day of play for William at least. Grace had to come with me back to the yard sale that I thought I needed to have. Vince & William stayed back at the campsite until everyone else decided to come home and then they came home as well. I will never had a yard sale when I'm trying to go camping again!
