What a week!
Wednesday: Vince's aunt, uncle and cousin were coming to Shakamak State Park and we decided to go camping with them. After we got home from WAl-Mart, I was busy as a beaver getting our stuff into the camper. We pulled out from our house around 6pm. No one was at the gate or the campground gate since it is April. So we found a couple of sites that we thought would work well. We were in 103 and his relatives were in 53. They wanted a pull through and that was the best one they had. They pulled in less than an hour after us. Then we got a fire going and ate dinner. I didn't let our kids stay out because they both had school the next day.
Thursday:
Vince got up and went to work. I got up around 7:15. I had William eat breakfast at school. I was going to fix
pancakes, but I didn't have a lighter to start the stove with. I was fairly confident that they were having something
he liked. I got us all dressed and we left by 7:40ish to take William to school. Grace and I dropped him off and went
back to the camper. I must have found something she liked or I went home to get something. I really don't remember
now. I took her to school by 9am and went to our house. I cut Triston's hair (my great-nephew). By the time I got
that done, and picked up a few things that we had forgotten, it was time to go get William. I had planned on working
on a scrapbook, but that didn't happen.
I picked the kids up and we headed to the camper. We had left over hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch. We were right
beside the playground and since the leaves and such haven't come back yet. We had a clear view so we let them go to the
playground alone. The kids and I did a lot of bike riding this week. We rode all the way around the campground several
times...just not several times in a row. lol! My goodness those bicycle seats are uncomfortable!
Several relatives came to the campground to visit Bill, Odie and Steve. We had a big spread of food for dinner. Bill
& I put up our screen house in probably 10 minutes by ourselves. We were pretty impressed. That worked well to keep the
bugs off the food. Vince got back around 5:30 and did all the grilling for us.
I took the kids to the shower house around 8:30 or so to get a shower. MAN was that water HOT! At first it was decent,
then it got really hot. It was so hot I didn't think *I* could stand it and I LOVE hot showers. After a couple of minutes
though, it calmed down to a decent temperature and I got the kids washed up. I let them dry themselves so I could get
cleaned up. While I was getting things ready to go, William slid into the hand dryer. He put a heck of a bump on his head
and a little cut. I wound up using a frozen hamburger patty as an ice pack. lol! We all stayed up WAY to late.
Friday:
Vince had to get up and go to work today. Unfortunately, when I set the clock...I forgot to turn it to Alarm ON.
I woke up at 5:45am and realized what had happened. I got up and fixed his breakfast and his lunch so he could leave on
time. Then I tried to go back to bed. I couldn't fall back asleep to save my life! I finally got up at 8:30. There was
no school because it is Good Friday. I fixed pancakes for breakfast and much to my surprise, Grace at THREE of them!
That is SO not like her. Then we went to Linton to the bank, Wal-Mart (I lost what I bought there...can't find them to
save my life and I KNOW they were in the truck), and Shoe Show. When we got home, we went in to eat some lunch. Then we
went bike riding and the kids played at the playground.
In the afternoon, the kids and I took a 2 hour nap. I was so worn out. Vince did get to come home early. We went for
a couple little bike rides around the campgrounds as well. We also cooked out with everyone again tonight. I had wanted
to go to Jerry's church for a revival, but that never panned out. I gave the kids a bath in the camper tonight instead
of going to the shower house.
Saturday:
I set the alarm for 8:30 or so in order to get the kids up, fed and ready to go. Vince went to cut a tree up and get
it out of a field that the farmer is wanting to plant. The kids & I went to an Easter Egg hunt in Sullivan at Jerry's
church. William found 9 eggs and Grace found 8. Grace found the prize egg. That was pretty fun. It wasn't nearly as
crowded as other egg hunts going on today would have been. After the egg hunt, we went back to the camper and grabbed
some lunch. Our family was packing up to head home. So we went to the house where I put some laundry in. Then we went
to Graham & Marcy's house. The family was meeting there for dinner around 2:30 or so. Spencer, Jennifer & kids came
down. The kids (minus the twins) had an easter egg hunt. They had a blast. And of course, their time here was cut much
to short and a complete melt down was had. Not that I blame them...they just don't get to see each other enough and were
having such a good time.
After everyone left, I finished the coke I had and headed back to our house. I needed to get our clothes for church
on Sunday and put the clothes that were in the washer, in the dryer. As we were getting ready to leave Vince & Nathan
pulled in with a truck full and trailer full of wood. By the time Vince got there, it was almost 8pm and we still needed
to get a fire going to grill burgers. We didn't eat until probably 9:30-10pm. Grace & I went to shower while Vince finished
grilling. He and William went ahead and ate while we were there. When we got back, they went to take a shower (at 10:30 or
so...sheesh).
Sunday:
I got up at 7:30 and rushed home. I had forgot to print out the bulletins. I had actually forgotten that it was Easter
Sunday. I couldn't find anything that was really touching to put in the bulletin that would actually fit in the bulletin
anyway, so I settled for the Jelly Bean Prayer. I took my clothes, etc with me and got ready at home while the bulletins
were printing out. I walked out the door at 8:02...pretty good timing if I do say so myself.
I fixed pancakes when I got back to the camper. They all got ready and we headed to church. The church service was great.
The church was packed! It wasn't when I went to sit down, but as soon as I got to the pew we were sitting in, tons more
people came in (and didn't get a bulletin because I was no longer back there!). We had a person have a horrible seizure at
church today as well. We had a lady from South Dakota get saved! Woo HOO!
After church, we went back to the camper and ate left over hamburgers, hot dogs and chips. Then we went for quick bike
ride around the campground again. And finally we started packing up. We didn't have much of the outside stuff to pack up.
We didn't get out the carpet at all because our site was muddy when we first got there. Vince and packed up the screen
house I think on Friday night because it was supposed to rain. We only had 2 lawn chairs out and the grill, so it went
pretty quick. The only thing that really had to be put up in the camper was the tv. We store it under one of the benches
for the table. I went to the playground and tried to take some pictures of the kids without them knowing it. I got one
taken and then Vince started the truck. Grace came a running. I think she thought he was leaving without them. As she
rounded the corner, she seen me. I took a few pictures and then went to make sure Vince didn't need any help. He was
pretty much done by the time I got back there. So we rounded up the kids and got them in the Jeep and pulled out.
I spent the next couple of hours unpacking the camper. Ugh...I was so worn out by the time I was done that I had a
headache. The kids were filthy from playing at the playground that I had to give them a bath. While they were bathing, I
fixed pizza rolls and watched a little gymnastics on tv. Vince decided that he was going to stay home and go to bed
early. He was watching the news as we were getting ready to leave and he told me that a storm was supposed to go through
at 7:10pm so to be careful.
While at church, the National Weather Service told people in our area to seek shelter, so the entire congregation
headed to the basement. My 2 kids didn't understand what was going on, but there were 3-4 that knew and were terrified. At
the time that we went to the basement, there was a tornado on the ground in Dugger. Our church isn't very far from Dugger.
But the God that I serve is an awesome God and the tornado/storm turned south before it got to us. We were back upstairs
by 8pm and went ahead with our service. The kids put on a play that was absolutely awesome! I wound up crying about 1/2
way through. And I could KICK myself! I didn't bring my camcorder so it didn't get taped at all. UGH!! Usually they ask
me if they need a camera, but they didn't this time. When church was over, it was pouring down rain. I brought the Jeep
around to the front of the church and took the kids their umbrella's. I took them down one at a time so they wouldn't
both get soaked jumping over the puddles. Then we went home. Vince was still up watching the weather updates.
