Wednesday:
Grace and I took William to school. Then we went to Linton and deposited Vince's check. We also went to CVS and Wal-Mart. Grace got to use her 'credit card' to buy herself some new dress shows. I worked at preschool. I was the snack mom. They had pretzels and juice.
Then we went home and grabbed our certificate for free food for William. Then we picked up my mom and went to Twist 'N Shake for lunch. Then we went home and packed the camper. When Vince got home, we finished packing what he needed and then pulled out. We drove for such a long time and went SO FAR!!! I think it was what...3 miles? We went to Shakamak State Park. The kids played at the playground while we set up the camper. We picked site 81 because it was a pull through and we can see the playground from there. We then we and got the Jeep and drove into town for gas in both vehicles. Since it was getting so late, we went to Subway for supper. Then back to the camper for bed.
Thursday:
Vince got up and went to work. William crawled in bed with me at 8:11. I tried to go back to sleep, but that wasn't happening. He had the tv on and I can't sleep with it on. Grace was in the bathroom when I got up. I was going to make pancakes, but forgot my skillet. Then I was going to make cinnamon rolls, but couldn't get the oven started. I realized around 5pm what the problem was...I was using the wrong knob.
I called Vince at 9am and he was on his way home. It's raining. Lovely. We watched Over The Hedge. It came for the kids on movie night to watch. Since it is rated PG, I knew I needed to watch it to make sure there were no bad words. Worst word I heard was dang.
We had lunch when Vince got back. The kids played at the playground for a little bit. The love the new tire swing. Then we went for a walk. They weren't too thrilled with that. They rode their bikes though. They were even less thrilled with going for a drive. We drove down to the beach and walked out to the pier. They have closed that off now. Won't be anything l eft by the time they are done.
By the time we got back, the kids were fighting and arguing so to bed they went. Vince started a fire so I stayed up and make sure it didn't catch the straw that we layed around to soak up the water. After I was certain that was ok, I went for a long walk by myself. That was nice and peaceful. I shouldn't have taken it though...now we are going to be late to church. When I got back from my walk, I put the tripod together then realized that we didn't have any aluminum foil. So I had to run home. I got that all fixed up and the food on the grill then I went for a shower. Then we ate and then headed back to the house for Vince to get a shower and then went to church.
Friday:
Vince got up and went to work again today. It pretty much rained all.day.long. It was horrible. The kids let me sleep until 10. Grace crawled in bed with me around 9 and went back to sleep. Then I got up and fixed cinnamon rolls and pancakes. Vince obviously got rained out again. We tried to figure out how to get the water out from around our campsite. I kid you not, we had water up to the door mat. We went and got our sump pump from the church, but that just wasn't working...so Vince went to the front gate and got us a new site. So we packed up and moved to site # 52. It's the first one on the right when you come into the campgroud. We went to the campstore. My step sister's mom is the one running it this year. We got a couple of fire starting sticks. Grace was ticked...she wanted a huge sucker. The kids and I went to the playground while Vince got a fire started and dinner going. After we ate, I went back out and roasted marshmallows for everyone. They were pretty tasty!
I couldn't believe Vince did this to me. We were out standing around the fire and he went inside. I stayed out because I figured he would come back out. He knows that I really don't like standing around a campfire. I have to be in constant motion to stay out of the line of smoke. Well, he never came back out! I finally got tired of walking around and went inside only to find him in his tshirt and undies on the bed reading a magazine! I just about flipped.
After we all went to bed, the wind picked up and started flapping the awning...which scared Grace. Then I remembered that I left their wet clothes outside as well as our raincoats. So I got back up and went out and got them. Then I put the awning up because I would be worried about it getting torn up if the wind got vicious.
Saturday:
Vince had to work today because of getting rained out the last 2 days. William was supposed to have a soccer game so we got up around 8:30 and had breakfast. I took Grace to my mom. William and I get down there and there is only 1 vehicle in the parking lot. When I pulled in, I knew the games had been cancelled because no one was there to take our $1 parking fee. Turns out, all games had been cancelled because it was so wet. William's age group and the age group younger than him will make up their games next Saturday.
So we drove to Jasonville and met Mom, Jerry and Grace for breakfast. Then we came to the house so I could print out the bulletins for church tomorrow and so I could type up this journal entry. I would never remember all of this tomorrow. Now we are going to see my uncles alpacas and then go back to the campgrounds. I will probably have them outside the rest of the day because it is MUCH warmer outside and is no longer raining!
We visted with my aunt and uncle before heading back to the campground. The wind is really biting today. I hadn't really noticed it until after we got to my uncle's house. Once we got to the camper, the kids wanted to play at the playground. I put more wood on the fire so I could roast a hot dog or whatever when we got back and then off we went on our bikes. I don't remember eating before heading over, but we might have. After I spun them into silliness on the tire swing, I made them pose for some pictures. lol! Then we took my camera back to the camper and went for a bike ride. Everytime we got really cold, I would make them stay in the camper for a little bit. We were outside most of the day though usually either riding bikes or playing at the playground.
Vince called when he was on his way home. I think I was roasting a hot dog for William by that time. He was going to stop by the house. I called him at 2:45 because I was done roasting and going to put ketcup on the hot dog when I realized that we were just about out. I kept the kids inside watching movies because I thought he was coming right out. When I realized that he wasn't, I coated them up and we headed out for another bike ride to play. There was a little boy there whose dad gave him 5 more minutes before he had to go eat supper. When those 5 minutes were up, we headed back to our camper too. I got the tripod ready and grilled hamburgers and the rest of the hot dogs. Vince got there right after we were finished eating (around 6pm or so). Well, Grace was still eating a peanut butter sandwich and throwing a fit because William wanted chocolate chips and I wouldn't let her have any. (no one got any until later). Once he ate a sandwich, we headed out on our bikes again. After the ride, we stopped at the playground and showed Daddy what we've been doing most of the day. He just about freaked when I spun Grace around in circles. I think I had taken pictures of that earlier in the day so I'll post those later.
At dark, we went back to the camper, Vince had forgot the church bulletins and I needed a shower so I headed back to the house. I decided that it would take too much time to shower so I would get up early and come home in the morning to shower. I took the bulletins over to Graham & Marcy's and folded them there. I knew they would want to chat so I would be saving time. Then I headed back to the camper. The kids watched Over The Hedge again. They probaly won't want to watch it during movie night now. lol!
I set the clocks back in the camper before going to be at 9:30, which is the new 10:30. I really don't like all this clock changing. I guess it would be good if I didn't work and could stay up at night actually doing stuff with the kids, but it just makes it harder really. Vince starts work Monday at 7 (which is the new 8 lol!)
Sunday:
William woke me at 3:28...2 minutes before my alarm was set to go off. He had drank too much milk before bed. I got him cleaned up and put him in bed with Vince. Then I got dressed, went home and got ready for work. I got here WAY too early. I as at the timeclock outside our offices at 5:36am. I can't clock in until 5:46. Then...I forgot to even clock in and had to email my boss. lol! I must still be in vacation mode.
Vince is supposed to make biscuits and gravy for breakfast this morning. That is what he wanted yesterday, but had to go to work. I wasn't about to get up that early to make it. lol! I'm sure they will ride bikes and play at the playground. Hopefully the kids have a good time too. lol!
(12:39) I talked to Vince around 11 or so. They had been for a bike ride, played at the playground and were riding their bikes near the camper when he called. He is starting to pack things up. He doesn't technically have to pull out until 5pm, but will probably come home a little earlier than that.
Well, that sums up our last camping trip of the year. Hopefully it will get warm early next year as well and we can start camping in March/April!
