West Boggs Park, Logoottee, Indiana

August 27 - 29, 2004

This was our 'trial run' at camping. Vince had been tent camping a couple of times as a kid. I know I went camping in a Pace Arrow motorhome when I was William's age & younger, but do not remember it at all. So. We borrowed our pastor's popup camper and went camping with them & their kids, Vic, Carla & Jacob; & Randy, Deb & their kids.

We got there late Friday night. Got the popup set up and headed over to the other campsites to roast hot dogs and such. Our kids played with the pastor's youngest (as usual) until they were all ready to pass out from exhaustion. Our kids did amazingly well for their first time. What impressed me the most was how easy it was to get them both to go to bed! They had their own queen size bed that they shared. No one fell out of bed so that was great. William and Grace both laid down with no problem. I wasn't too surprised that Grace did (although she has never been in a bed that she can get out of). But I was really surprised that William laid down so easy. He usually fights us tooth and nail at home.

Saturday, we got up and attempted breakfast...pop tarts. lol! The kids had never had them before so I thought they would go over pretty well. I was wrong. Neither of them liked the kind I got. I had gotten spiderman ones for William and he didn't like the berry taste. Oh well...lesson learned.

Thought Saturday was going to be a day of the kids playing and us just sitting around. That worked out for the morning. Saturday afternoon...rain. Saturday night...rain. In a pop up...Yuck! We felt damp the rest of our stay. Made a note to self...don't get a popup or anything with canvas.

We had a hard time getting to do anything outside of the camper. Since it was new to the kids...they wanted to spend all of their time INSIDE! I couldn't believe it! Here are a few pictures of them...inside. ;)

Saturday night, Bill & Sandy (Carla & Randy's parents), Nola (pastor's mom) and Sister Phyllis (close church friend) came out to visit. We grilled hamburgers, hot dogs and steak! Plus we had tons of other food. It downpoured while we were trying to eat. lol! Oh well, it was still a great time. We such a great time that we decided to get a camper of our own.

Sunday, we slept in as late as the kids would let us...then we just hung out until about 2pm when we got the pop up 'un-popped' and headed home.
